Tales Be Told

I return my dear fellows! Return from the depths of a dark planet that is nothing like I have ever seen. You may have noticed there has been no word from myself or Zia for the last few months, that is because something has FINALLY taken place in the universe. After interwoven secrets and conspiracies, I finally have the privilege to share with you these events.
Over the next few months I have been granted permission to tell about the things that have taken place and the changes that we all have experienced. So now we turn the clock at least five-years back, when I was only an explorer , Zia was still an apprentice wizard, the others had not yet come to the planet, and excitement was beginning to disappear........

A rock, on a planet, in a solar system, in space

I am writing this sitting on a rock.

Yes.
A rock.
I am sitting on a rock.
Such simple statement it is to say "I am sitting on a rock." It is not a profound statement really. Its not dramatic, nor boring, just simple.
I am sitting on a rock.
I am sitting on a rock writing.
I am sitting on a rock writing to others.
I am sitting on a rock surrounded by trees and in every direction is unexplored land rumbling with life.
There, that is why I mentioned in the first place that I am sitting on a rock; I am on the unexplored planet trying to take everything in. Let me update you on how I got here in the first place...to my rock.

Well as soon as Electra stormed off I immediately went to talk to the robots. I can understand why Electra was so frustrated, they seem to enjoy the game of lets-not-give-the-information-asked-for. When I questioned about the "new" planet the metallic database voice answered "Please define 'new'. Time is relative, therefore 'new' has insignificant meaning."
Of course this spurred us into a discussion starting on how we are still affected by time, just have a great deal of power over it, and ending with the accuracy and interpretation involved with language. Finally I asked for the coordinates for where Electra had been send and was on my way.
I admit I do like the robots. It can be hard to find someone to discuss and argue with when you are never in the same location very long. I really do need to find someone to accompany me, at least for one mission, though I am not sure yet how it would be to have another tagging along, even if I did invite them.

So I gathered my basic gear and set off. My first view of the planet and its beauty was on my decent through its atmosphere. From what I saw there seems to be many different landscapes, from forest to desert, indeed remarkable for such a small planet.
So that leads me to my current place, my rock.
I think  I will trek through the forest around me. I heard some strange sounds that should be exciting to investigate.

A last thought about this planet. Remember how I mentioned the universe has been quite boring and peaceful lately? Well this planet could change all that. The worlds might be peaceful, but evil selfish desires still run deep and swift. An uncharted world could cause tension...

So long for now.

P.s. If anyone back home is not doing anything, I still might consider taking someone along on my expedition....

There's A World Out There

Well I had just returned from a fairly boring assignment when I ran into a wide-eyed, steaming Electra. Before I explain what she was fuming about I think I should introduce myself a bit so you don't take me wrong.

I am a bounty hunter. I chase reckless villains across the galaxy and time in order to make a meager living. Unfortunately now the art of bounty hunting is becoming a lost trade in this new era that I have chosen to establish myself in, so I  take great pride in my selected skill. I am the future, the last light of this masterless and noble trade of independence. I aim to establish once again the flawless, time honored title of the bounty hunter.
Unfortunately this bounty hunting trade only prospers when someone of modest fortune is angry, vengeful, or busy enough to pay to have their enemy captured. As mentioned before, the worlds are going through an annoying time of peace, leaving one to only hope for a sudden disaster to create some havoc. Because the bounty hunting business has been on a down turn for more then a few years I decided to take up exploring. Delightfully so, exploring had been very calming and exhilarating all at once. I am able to meet new people, see new lands, and often keep fit by running away from strange creatures. Overall I enjoy the life of an explorer and bounty hunter, even if it does have major disappointments and heartache.
Last week I was lucky enough to have the fortune of a small job, capturing a lost princess. Yes, a humiliating job for a ruthless hunter, but I needed money, so I took the job. Let's just say that princess is a speedy traveler and picks the most inconvenient places to travel. It was from this task that I was returning from when I met Electra.
I was walking silently, contemplating what I could do with my meager earnings, when I felt a jolt on my left shoulder. Turning suddenly around I had to remind Electra for the millionth time not to touch my left shoulder as it never fails to bring back the sharp pain and rather-be- forgotten memories.
"Do something about them!" she hissed at me. "They have got to be put under control once and for all. Rewire them! Rewrite them! It doesn't matter to me as long as they are fixed! Did you know they sent me to a wrong planet? A new planet. I didn't even know that was possible!"
As she was saying this I could only assume that she was talking about the robots; Electra has always had slight trouble with the things. What really caught my ear were the words new planet. Finally something interesting to do! Suddenly my mind was awake with purpose and I began to spout questions. "Where was this planet? Did anyone live there? What was the weather? Does it belong to a new solar system? What time is it in?"
Electra then proceeded to give me the typical look of annoyance before shouting and storming off. "How should I know all those answers? I just want the robots fixed! Go ask the dreadful in-subordinates yourself!"
Electra and I don't have the best relationship at times, but that is a problem for another time. Just think another planet to explore! Now all I need is a exploring companion. I wonder who would be willing to come with me? Maybe the bard will come or possibly whats-his-name philosopher spy.....
                                                                                                        Off to explore!

The truth is, things are terribly boring at the moment. Things are too peaceful... isn't that suspicious? There's always something happening out there in the vast galaxy of imagination.

As Isadora asked, what are we supposed to do when no trouble is present?

Not that we WANT to stir up trouble, but our livelihood was centering on helping various characters, races, and things out of sticky situations. It involves pointing time travelers in the right direction, making sure their very annoying evil villans don't follow them, and cleaning a whole lot of peanut butter out of space ships.

So as I, Z, sat outside on this particularly pleasant day (for Mars) I pondered this. There isn't much happening in the sky right now. A few clouds shimmered, but any time travelers passing through seemed to have no trouble whatsoever. Things were outrageously, frustratingly quiet. I was so bored I wished I had a spaceship that needed cleaning out. No worries. All the spaceships were sparkling. I checked 5 minutes ago.

I watched, interested, as a shimmer of light stopped and out popped a time traveler, bouncing onto the surface of our planet. Oh. It turned out to be Electra. She was looking like an Electra today. Her hair stood on end like she'd stuck a finger in a socket, and to top it off, her eyes were bugging out as well.

"Where've you been?" I said, in a friendly tone. Certainly it seemed more interesting than being stuck on guard duty. When you're the only one wielding a magical staff, suddenly it seems like everyone wants you to guard the planet from trespassing troublemakers.
Electra rubbed a grease stain off her forehead. "I got transported to the wrong planet," she started in her dramatic, hand waving sort of way, "And you would not BELIEVE how appalled I am that the control panel messed up. Apparently, this place hasn't been explored yet, and so I spent my day running from unfriendly looking swords and swimming across a channel to escape an obnoxious looking ninja!"
"Wow," I said, impressed, "Ninjas? What did they look like?"
"Just one. He had an equally angry looking blond girl arguing with him when I accidentally hit him on the head," she paused for a breath, then launched into another subject, "Z, take me to those robots. I order you to zap one of them for their incompetence. Never do I want to be put back on the planet again."

I didn't zap any robots today because (A) I don't take orders from Electra and (B) I didn't feel like risking a miffed robot's wrath. We went back into the fortress, Electra trying to tame her hair. I told her it looked most becoming.

"Yes, well, you WOULD," was all the reply I got. I split off and went my own direction to visit the robots--no zapping but all the same I was curious to see what they were up to, and wondering where Saffron was because she's usually so good with them. I left Tad, our semi depressed emo apprentice (he doesn't have an apprenticeship, so he's really an apprentice to no one and NEEDS A JOB) on guard duty. I mean, what could go wrong?
